JOINT DOLE-DTI-LGU BAGUIO INSPECTION OF FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS

BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Baguio City Mayor's Office Permits and Licensing Division, Health Services Offices-Sanitation Division (HSO-SD) to include Smoke-Free Baguio Office inspected the health safety protocols being carried out by workplaces in Baguio City to avoid the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Personnel of the two departments and the City Government of Baguio visited dine-in restaurants and fast food establishments in the city to check their compliance with the joint DOLE-DTI Interim Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of Covid-19 and other advisories of the labor department.

DOLE-CAR Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman said the joint DOLE-DTI interim guidelines focus on areas for compliance such as increasing physical and mental resilience of workers, reducing transmission, contact, and risk of infection.

Aside from dine-in restaurants and fast food establishments, the inspection also covers business establishments, manufacturing firms, and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies.

Each agency identified two personnel each to form the inspection teams in three batches.

To date, there are two hundred seventy eight (278) dine-in restaurants and fast food establishments inspected by the composite team and once completed they will continue to visit malls, manufacturing firms and BPOs.

Director Guzman said, the inspection team made several recommendations for improvement that the management must carry out such as providing soap and water in their lavatory and other health protocols.

The management of these establishments has committed to improve their system to ensure safe physical distancing, no mask-no entry policy, thermal scanning, provision of face masks or shield, and alcohol. Another recommendation is for the repeated reminders to dine-in goers, take out clients to observe health protocol.
