Press Releases

Baguio City – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – Cordillera Administrative region (OWWA-CAR) celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the primary Agency which provides welfare assistance to Overseas Filipino Workers and their families last May 2, 2017.

OWWA-CAR Regional Director Evelyn Laranang said this years’ theme “We Serve! We Care!” is in line with  OWWA’s trademark as a ‘caring agency for OFWs and their families’, an attribute earned through long years of hard work, industry, dedication, and commitment to serve its client OFWs at all times in all corners of the country and the world.  The trademark is a product of long years of ‘rigid training’ and unwritten and true commitment’ to service, the ‘driving force’ that motivates OWWA personnel to render ‘extra miles’ to be of assistance to our OFWs and their families.

The OWWA - CAR had a simple celebration by giving simple treats to walk-in client OFWs and/ or family members through quality service, sweet smile, and they were served with hot coffee, biscuits, and/or candies while representatives of partner agencies were invited to a simple but meaningful program and awards by giving simple tokens of appreciation for their unending support of providing services to OFWs.  Guests and visitors were also treated to a simple dinner.

Highlighting the celebration was the awarding of commendation to Ms. Dina C. Ponciano, OWWO III of RWO CAR for courageously serving OFW clients even beyond the call of duty during her stint as Administrative Staff in Kuwait involving an attempted abduction of distressed OFW Lolita P.  Eroy.  The incident happened in July 2015 when Ms. Ponciano put her life on the line just to protect the said OFW which is a proof of her devotion to duty and commitment to public service.
