TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) is now accepting applications to the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

Tabuk PESO Officer Francis Dale Biag said the scholarship is offered to children or siblings of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) with active OWWA membership and under the EDSP, grantees will receive P60,000 annual educational cash aid for any four or five-year course.

“The scholarship is offered to incoming freshmen and those already enrolled in college. For incoming freshmen, applicants must be single, grade 12 graduate in 2018 and not more than 21 years old while  applicants already enrolled in college must have an average academic rating of not lower than 85 percent and full load in the last school year, single and not more than 30 years old. ” Biag added.

Upon filing of applications, applicants should submit proofs of relationship to OFW, proof of OWWA membership of the OFW and applicant’s 2 x 2 photos.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is also offering a scholarship grant under the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) for courses identified as priority fields in science and technology by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute.

Applicants of this grant are children of an OFW whose gross annual income is not more than $6,780, graduating high school student or who graduated but never enrolled in college or any associate course, not a recipient of any scholarship award, 21 years old, and must pass the qualifying exams to be administered by the DOST on Oct. 15.

Applications to both scholarship programs may be filed at the OWWA-CAR or at the Department of Labor and Employment provincial office in Bulanao, Tabuk, Kalinga not later than July 31./with reports from Larry Lopez.
