DOLE APAYAO, PESO CONDUCT CAREER COACHING IN LUNA

Luna, Ifugao – The Department of Labor and Employment - Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) in coordination with the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) of the Municipality of Luna, Apayao  conducted  a Career Coaching seminar to one hundred thirty (130) High School students of San Francisco National and Agricultural Trade High School (SFNATHS) last week.

Luna PESO Manager Edna Carmen informed the students about their programs and services in the locality and encouraged them to avail of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) by discussing the requirements and qualification.

The students were also given an overview on the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) for them to inform their parents that they can avail said program and were also briefed with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Programs and services for returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) including livelihood and scholarship programs.

Related to this, Rose Bautista, PESO staff discussed the Tips on how to choose a better career in the future that includes aptitudes and values of an individual and the Hard and In-Demand to Fill occupations worldwide which will serve as one of the considerations of the students to choose their own careers to prevent possible wrong choice and possible shifting of courses.

On the other hand, Labor and Employment Officer III Saleo-an of DOLE-Apayao discussed the status of Employment on the Philippines and in Cordillera Administrative Region, the updated Key Employment Generators and emphasized the reasons of an unemployment. The key employment generators (KEGs) study seen to address job mismatch and underemployment in CAR are priority industries including construction; information and communications technology and other-related services; tourism; hotels, resorts and restaurants; health and wellness; agribusiness and fisheries; manufacturing; power and renewable energy; education; transport and logistics; real estate development; automotive and land transportation; and wholesale and retail.
