FROM SPES BENEFICIARY TO ENGINEER

Through the years of delivering quality services to its various clienteles, DOLE-CAR has proven to be a source of joy and appreciation to those who availed of the programs and services. The Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) which is catered to the poor but deserving students to augment their financial needs to pursue their schooling is just one of the programs and services of DOLE-CAR. The success in the implementation of this program is exemplified by the achievement of Eng’r. JEHORAM ASENCIO FLORES.

Jehoram Asencio Flores, a residence of Purok Uno, Bulanao, Tabuk City was born on December 21, 1996. As the 2nd child of five siblings of Mr. Romelio Flores, a welder and Cesaria Asencio Flores, a housewife. He finished his elementary at the Bulanao Central School in 2010 and his secondary education at the Tabuk City National High School in 2014. He entered college at the Kalinga State University taking up Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) in 2014. He graduated Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and passed the Board examination in 2019.

Eng’r. Flores said the SPES has opened avenues in achieving his goal in life. “ Para kanyak dakkel la unay ti naitulong daytoy programa nga SPES, ta gamin akas estudante nga awanan ngem dakkel ti gagar nga maturpos iti pinag eskwela ken tapno matulungan iti nagannak nga agparparigat nga agsapul para ti pagtaengan. Pinagbalin ko apo akas instrumento iti SPES tapno malag-anan iti nagannak ko iti pinagpaadal da kanyak”. (For me, the Special Program for Employment of Students is of great help for poor students like me but have the desire to finish their schooling in order to help their parents. I used the (SPES) as an instrument to lessen the burden of my parents to sustain my education).

Eng’r. Flores availed of the SPES for four (4) times. He started in 2014 with the Kalinga Provincial Government as his employer then in 2015, 2016, and 2017 with the Kalinga State University as his employer for the (SPES) program. Eng’r. Flores availed of the (SPES) program during summer time when he can still afford to spent time for work while in the lower years. He did not apply for SPES during his Fourth and Fifth year in college because of too much load in school. His salaries from (SPES) serve to augment his school expenses that eased the burden of his parents. Eng’r. Jehoram and his family are so happy for his success in the field of education and are looking forward to obtain a decent employment with the government in the near future especially so that he is a licensed Civil Engineer.
