The Department of Labor and Employment-Cordillera Administrative Region Office (DOLE-CAR) congratulates the 8 hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) applicants in the recently conducted Limited Face-To-Face Job Fair, Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK), Bayanihan Bakunahan, and One-Stop-Shop at the Skyzone Porta Vaga Mall, Baguio City.

Of the 655 applicants who registered for the whole-day event, 161 applicants vied for local vacancies while 494 for overseas employment. 558 of the applicants were initially evaluated as qualified for their chosen job openings, or those job seekers who meet the minimum requisites posted by the employers. 8 applicants were successfully hired on the spot: 7 for local, and 1 for overseas employment.

The seven newly hired local employees will be starting their careers in the business process outsourcing industry, while the applicant for overseas employment will be working abroad at Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Jessie Cristobal Javillonar, the HOTS applicant for overseas employment, shared in an interview that his overseas career started when he first participated during a Labor Day Job Fair in Baguio last May 2009. He has since been working abroad for 11 years as an electronics engineer, but due to some circumstances, had to return to the Philippines last September. Having met all the requirements for his desired overseas position, he expressed both thankfulness and excitement in practicing his profession again.

Of the more than 600 registered applicants, 199 are classified as “near hires” or job seekers who are considered hired but may need to submit additional requirements, documents, or must undergo further tests or interviews.

Aside from employment opportunities, a one-stop-shop joined by various government agencies similarly offered their services for clients and job seekers alike.
Representatives of agencies included those from the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), PhilHealth, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Employees Compensation Commission (ECC), Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA), and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB).

The DOLE-CAR Face-to-Face Job Fair partnered with the Baguio City Health Services Office in order to aid in the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out to willing attendees. 85 individuals received their vaccinations as first or second dose or booster shots.

In a short media interview, Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra, CESO III, stated that the Department continues to pursue its mandate in promoting gainful employment opportunities, developing human resources, protecting workers and promoting their welfare, and maintaining industrial peace.

The Limited face-to-face job fair is a joint celebration of the Department of Labor and Employment’s 88th Anniversary of continued service to the public. It embraces ths year’s theme of “Tuloy-tuloy na pagTUPAD sa serbisyong tapat”.
