Baguio City – On July 26, 2019, Ms. Miraflor Lucas DOLE-CAR Regional Cashier and Mr. Christopher Tugadi, OIC – Abra Field Office Head facilitated the awarding of TUPAD check and the release of the SPES salaries of the beneficiaries of LGU-San Juan.
The TUPAD check was received by the Mayor of LGU-San Juan, Hon. Meynardo M. Bautista, Jr., witnessed by the Municipal Treasurer, Ms. Marietta A. Rivada, and their PESO Manager, Ms. Marietta Ta-a. The check amounting to P5,237,500.00 will benefit 950 beneficiaries who are unemployed/underemployed in the municipality of San Juan. Said amount will cover their salaries for 14 days as well as their PPE’s.
TUPAD, or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/ Displaced Workers, or TUPAD, is a component of the DOLE Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, or DILEEP. It is a community-based (municipality/barangay) package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers; those who were self-employed and have lost their livelihood, including farmers and fishermen, due to natural or man-made disasters, and the underemployed and the unemployed poor individuals.
Likewise, the DOLE counterpart of the salaries amounting to P 280,904.00 for the 70 SPES beneficiaries who worked for 20 days as office aides and assisted in the maintenance of the nursery of the LGU.
The Special Program for the Employment of Students or SPES is a DOLE Youth employment bridging program which aim to provide temporary employment to poor but deserving students, out of school youth, or dependents of displaced or soon to be displaced workers during summer and Christmas vacation or anytime of the year to augment the family’s income to help ensure that the beneficiaries will be able to pursue their education.
