LAGAWE, IFUGAO – The Department of Labor and Employment –Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) awarded last week a check amounting to Eight Hundred Eighty Two Thousand Five Hundred pesos (P882,500.00) to the Maghi-ud Ifugao Rice Planter’s Organization (MIRRO) thru the Local Government Unit of Barangay Damag, Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

DOLE Ifugao Field Office Head Samuel Lasdacan said the project aims to ease the burden of the residents’ in pounding their palay harvest using the traditional mortar and pestle which would save time and cost of transporting their palay for rice milling at the nearest rice mill which is six (6) kilometers away from their barangay.

“The assistance provided by DOLE was proposed by the Local Government of barangay Damag to help the Maghi-ud Ifugao Rice Planters Organization though the Community Enterprise Development on Acquisition of Upgraded Customized Rice Mill with Stoner and Thresher Project “. Lasdacan said.

Lasdacan emphasized that parties adhere to the MOA on the procurement of the equipment and machines in accordance with the proper documentation and liquidation of the funds and the proper operation of the livelihood project.

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DOLE-CAR, Barangay Damag and MIRRO headed President Gabriel Ayapao by  emphasizes a successful implementation of the project. The project is still owned by the DOLE for a period of three (3) years and it will be properly given to the Organization.

Barangay Captain William Lingwayon of  Barangay Damag, Aguinaldo, Ifugao  lauded the DOLE’s effort in closely monitoring the implementation of the funded project in his community  to ensure that they are implemented and to generate sustainable local enterprises towards increased self-employment and productivity across the barangay.
