Many young jobseekers had been part of Government Internship Program (GIP) have been successful in landing into permanent jobs. The program under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have been assisting graduates in gaining experiences necessary to help them find jobs after school.
The experiences they have learned in different offices where they were assigned gave them the advantage resulting to greater opportunities which is their desire to look for permanent jobs.
Jay Anne Abalos, a former GIP Intern who was once deployed at Santa Marcela National High School had been hired as Teacher 1 and assigned at the same school; her alma mater is an example.
Ma’am Abalos was a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino, June 2017. It was a long journey for her to look for a job right after College because she does not have eligibility yet.
November, of the same year she worked as GIP Intern at SMNHS which lasted only for one (1) month after getting a job at Personal and Social Education (PSE) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) for almost two (2) months as Enumerator or alternate Teacher. In the year 2018, she was hired again as GIP Intern and was assigned in the same school; Sta. Marcela National High School while waiting for the result of the Board exam she took last September 2018.
Prayers and through great determination, she passed the Licensure Exam for Teachers and got permanent at the same school
According to her the pressure of her neighbors boosted her courage and help her become stronger in proving that she is worthy of getting a job but to provide better future for her family.
According to Sir Francisco Tattao, the School Principal of SMNHS, “Naanus isuna nga ubing aglalo ti trabaho na isu nga innala mi a dagos isuna idi nakapasa iti LET,”
Kunting tiis lang ang kailangan, God will provide you what you need and what you deserve will be given, thank you very much to the GIP Program that gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills and talents and eventually gained a lot of experiences which qualifies me for my position today” she further stated.
