LAGAWE, Ifugao –The Department of Labor and Employment field office here recently assessed public employment services officers (PESOs) in the province pursuant to the National Skills Registry Program (NSRP).

DOLE-Ifugao Senior Labor and Employment Officer Isabelita Codamon said the activity was held to validate statistical information on the PESO Employment Information System (PEIS), document the gaps and good practices of PESOs, ensure the efficient and effective implementation of the NSRP using the templates, and develop an action plan for the implementation of the program in 2020.

The DOLE initiated the NSRP primarily to maintain a continuing nationwide skills registry through its Skills Registry System (SRS) database. It is an employment facilitation machinery that aims to cover all cities and municipalities with operating PESOs.

PEIS is the enhanced version of the SRS, which is a database of active manpower supply containing the profiles of persons and employers registered under the NSRP. Maintained and updated by all participating PESOs nationwide, PEIs show information on the qualifications and skills of the applicants as well as the job vacancies posted by employers.

Before the assessment, Codamon re-oriented the participants about the NSRP.

Imelda Pascual, president of the Management Association of the Philippines for the Cordillera, gave updates about the PESO.
