Baguio City – The Department of Labor and Employment – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOLE-CAR) recorded three hundred forty nine (349) jobseekers who were Hired on the Spot (HOTS) during the conduct of the 2019 Labor Day Job and Business Fairs at the Baguio City High School – Main Campus. The Job Fair was participated in by forty one (41) local employers and eleven (11) Overseas Recruitment Agencies who offered 2,638 local jobs and 15,618 overseas job vacancies respectively.

In the report submitted to the office of DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III by DOLE CAR, 2,401 job seekers trooped to the BCHS Main Campus. There were 1,839 near hire applicants of which 1,021 are for  local and 818 are overseas applicants.

According to DOLE-CAR Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman, other activities in celebration of Labor day  include One Stop Shop Government Service Center, livelihood fair participated in by twenty (20) livelihood associations assisted by DOLE, DTI and OWWA showcasing their products; Health and Wellness Centre offering free haircut, free massage and free manicure and pedicure while there were eight (8) participating supermarket and malls for the Diskwento Caravan namely SM Supermarket, C&AAA Supermarket, Sunshine Supermarket, Tiongsan Harrison, Tiongsan La Trinidad, Porta Vaga Mall, Abanao Square and Savemore and also free international calls was offered by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) for job seekers to call their love ones abroad.

Director Guzman said that there were 160 job applicants referred to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for Business Opportunity, 47 referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for skills training while 171 job applicants were referred to other participating government agencies like the NBI, SSS, PRC, OWWA, NRCO, PhilHealth, POEA and NCDA-PWD.

Director Guzman also said that the Job and Business Fairs is a joint undertaking of the DOLE-CAR, the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO Baguio) of the City Government of Baguio and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with PagIbig Fund,

Social Security System, PhilHealth, Employees Compensation Commission, OWWA, PRC, Occupational Safety and Health Center, National Reintegration Center for OFWs, TESDA, POEA, NLRC, NCMB and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), BCDEO and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).

The DOLE-CAR, the PESO Baguio and partner regional line agencies will again conduct another Job and business fair activity on June 12, 2019 in celebration of the 121st Anniversary of Philippine Independence.
